Recent browser updates have no consequences on KoffeePhoto

In the last days, almost all popular browsers have received an update.

On PC, Internet Explorer moved to version 8, Google’s Chrome moved to version 2.0, Flock moved to version 2.5, Apple’s Safari moved to version 3.2.3 and Mozilla Firefox move to version 3.5 is highly awaited. Our testing did not reveal any problem with KoffeePhoto’s JavaScript based functions or with KoffeePhoto’s Java based modules such as the photo uploader or the photobook composer.

Go on sharing photos happily!

New KoffeePhoto version supports tags and rating

We’ve just released a new version of the online service of KoffeePhoto. This version provides a major evolution in terms of navigation as we’ve included support of tags and rating.

A two-level tag navigation is provided, you may navigate in your tags or in public tags. Of course, private photo albums remain private even if tagged. The main tag page can be a good start for a navigation.

As this change only affects the online service, no download of a KoffeePhoto software update is required.

As usual, your feedback is welcome.

Online photobook creation now available

photobook

We’ve now released our online photobook composer. This tool allows for online creation of photobooks using photos stored on your KoffeePhoto account or simply using photos stored on your hard disk. Photobooks are created in a semi-automatic mode requiring only a few clicks to get a first result. Editing functions allow for a picture-by-picture fine enhancing of the result.

More powerful editing functions are to be added in the future.

All operations are conducted online requiring no software to download and to install. Thanks to this online operation, the photobook composer is also available on all platforms, Linux, MacOS and Windows.

KoffeePhoto photobooks are currently only available in France.

Check your Internet connection speed

Photo sharing is a Internet connection bandwidth savvy activity. While we are doing our best to provide a state-of-the-art performance level by running a powerful storage and distribution architecture, you may be getting poor response. Here are some questions you should ask yourself. How much bandwidth am I actually using? How can I identify a bottleneck? Am I getting the Internet speeds promised by my ISP or is it just time to consider a new computer?

These may seem like basic questions, but they can not be easily answered.

As an independant tool, Measurement Lab (M-Lab) provides a platform for researchers to deploy Internet measurement tools in order to share data about their accuracy and reliability. Measurement Lab is a brainchild of Google, the New America Foundation’s Open Technology Institute (OTI), and the PlanetLab consortium.

Measurement Lab also provides tools for users to test their Internet connection speed. The Network Diagnostic Tool allows for testing your connection speed and receive sophisticated diagnosis of problems limiting speed.
