KoffeeWare today announced an extension to the KoffeePhoto photo sharing service with the introduction of Communities.
KoffeePhoto Communities allows for creation of thematic photo centric communities. To achieve this goal, a KoffeePhoto community consists of a collection of moderated photo albums. KoffeePhoto users can easily create and/or subscribe to communities and publish a selection of their albums to these communities. Within a KoffeePhoto community, users can interact by browsing photos, adding comments and reading other people’s comments.
Communities can be public or hidden. Public communities are included in a portal for browsing the existing communities and may be indexed by search engines. Hidden communities are designed for photo sharing in the private scope. More, KoffeePhoto Communities can be easily embedded to any web site.
We are convinced that KoffeePhoto Communities is a tremendous opportunity for groups and associations to enable their web sites with dedicated photo sharing capabilities.
Release is planned for October 6th.

When it comes to organizing and sharing photos two philosophies compete, each with its benefits.
Building the KoffeePhoto solution, we were looking to include the best of both worlds. Thanks to its built-in synchronization engine, the KoffeePhoto photo software allows for extremely easy transfer of photos from a digital camera or a hard disk to the KoffeePhoto servers. Synchronization means no hassle handling the upload management and issues. Synchronization also means that any photo added or every change made to existing photos will be automatically synchronized. Pictures are automatically stored online, the user decides if access is shared or not. If enabled, KoffeePhoto provides online photo sharing capabilities such as seen with this photo sharing sample. The pictures can also easily be added to web log posts or personal web pages.
Last but not the least, an software agent running in background makes sure time consuming uploads are processed even when leaving the software.
With all this in mind, while the KoffeePhoto online environment is full featured we still provide the KoffeePhoto photo software for a seamless user experience.
In the end, technology should always lead to simplifying our life.

Google launched today its own open source browser, Google Chrome.
Widely based on Mozilla’s Firefox, it includes an updated JavaScript Virtual Machine, called V8. V8 promises to speed up JavaScript and reduce memory bloat, which will make a significant difference in webapps.
KoffeePhoto’s web page using JavaScript, we wanted to check behaviour running Google Chrome. First tests running Google Chrome version 0.2.149.27 with KoffeePhoto show no problem and Javascript based functions immediately look faster.
While still a beta version, Google Chrome seems to fill its mission nicely.
